The traditional governor of the Cieneguita de Núñez indigenous community, in Choix, Sinaloa; Santos Moreno Cabada, who was also a substitute candidate for the PRI for councilor in this municipality, was found dead with a gunshot wound on Thursday, May 16th, in this town of the state of Sinaloa.
The state leadership of the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Sinaloa confirmed the murder of Santos Moreno Cabada and expressed its dismay at the tragedy.
“We are very sorry, it dismays us. Our solidarity with the family and we demand the immediate clarification of this regrettable murder that has just been committed,” they said at a press conference early Thursday morning.
After the discovery was reported, agents of the municipality went to the scene and confirmed that he no longer had vital signs and also had a bullet wound to the stomach.
According to the first reports, Santos Moreno’s body was found on a hill near the indigenous community of Choix.
Although it appears that the alleged perpetrator could be a close relative of the victim, there is still no official confirmation of this fact.
Meanwhile, the body was transferred to a funeral home in the city of Los Mochis, where an autopsy will be performed and then delivered to his family.
