MEXICO CITY — Euphoria surrounding the Mexican national football team’s undefeated run in the 2026 World Cup group stage has sent ticket prices into the stratosphere.

Ahead of Mexico’s highly anticipated Round of 32 knockout match at the Estadio CDMX (Estadio Azteca) on June 30, prices on unofficial secondary resale markets have soared to over half a million pesos.

Although Mexico’s opponent has yet to be finalized, fan frenzy has caused massive inflation across secondary platforms. On the resale site Viagogo, the cheapest available ticket is listed at 53,165 pesos for a lateral seat. Meanwhile, the most expensive ticket on the platform has reached 450,780 pesos, reportedly including VIP access and unlimited food and drinks.

Other secondary ticket brokers are experiencing similar spikes. Stubhub reports its lowest starting price at 64,922 pesos, with premium seats climbing as high as 367,734 pesos. SeatGeek, which lists its prices in U.S. dollars, features the highest premium spike, offering a top-tier ticket for a staggering 669,865 pesos (more than $35,000 USD), while its cheapest option sits at 57,377 pesos.

These numbers stand in stark contrast to official pricing. Through FIFA’s secure ticketing portal, standard tickets originally ranged from 2,500 pesos to a premium cap of 83,500 pesos. While FIFA’s platform is currently sold out, soccer governing officials have not ruled out a last-minute release of returns.

With days remaining until the high-stakes knockout match, sports business analysts expect secondary market prices to fluctuate further as desperation mounts among local fans eager to witness El Tri’s historic home-turf World Cup campaign.
