Launched on August 10, 2026, this innovative pop-up museum is designed to celebrate the history, evolution, and enigmatic behavior of domestic cats through an engaging, multi-sensory experience.
Located at Avenida Paseo de la Reforma 87 in the historic Tabacalera neighborhood, the museum spans three interactive rooms crafted to educate and entertain visitors of all ages. Guided by an animated version of a mischievous resident cat named Sissi, guests begin their journey in the first room by discovering the ancient history and evolutionary path that brought felines into our homes.
The experience takes a playful turn in the second room, titled “Now You Are a Cat.” Here, visitors can step directly into the paws of a michi through interactive installations. Guests can listen to amplified purrs inside a giant ball of yarn, mark virtual territory, and experience what it feels like to navigate a miniature version of Mexico City from a cat’s eye view. The final room offers immersive photo opportunities and a virtual mural where visitors can leave a digital tribute to their own pets.
Beyond the exhibits, the venue features a cozy café and a specialized souvenir shop. Demonstrating a strong commitment to animal welfare, the museum also offers special activities where proceeds directly fund mobile sterilization clinics for dogs and cats in vulnerable communities across the city.
Open Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, admission is priced at $350 pesos.
