National Guard member arrested for kidnapping elderly man in Sinaloa

On June 14, 2026, an active member of the National Guard was arrested in the municipality of Culiacán for his alleged involvement in the aggravated kidnapping of an elderly man in Guamúchil, who was held for seven days.

Culiacán, Sinaloa – The Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office executed an arrest warrant against Marcos David “N,” 26, an active member of the National Guard, for his probable involvement in the crime of aggravated kidnapping.

The arrest took place at a tollbooth in the municipality of Culiacán, in coordination with agents of the Investigative Police, in compliance with a court order issued by the First Instance Criminal Control and Trial Court of the Central Region.

According to the investigation, the accused is identified as a likely participant in the kidnapping of an elderly man on April 9, 2026, in the city of Guamúchil, municipality of Salvador Alvarado.

The victim was abducted and held captive for seven days, during which time his family was allegedly asked to pay 5 million pesos for his release.

On April 15, 2026, through intelligence work carried out by the State Attorney General’s Office, the property where the victim was being held was located. During the operation, he was freed without the ransom being paid, and Yovani Alexis “N”, another of the alleged accomplices, was arrested in the act.

Subsequently, the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit obtained and executed the arrest warrant against Marcos David “N”, who was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority to continue with his legal process.
