Several videos circulating on social media show alleged brigade members or officials from Welfare programs threatening senior citizens with the withdrawal of their government assistance if they support other political parties. This has generated strong controversy and protests from the opposition.
These recordings, disseminated mainly in states like Coahuila, show moments in which supposed social program operators go to homes and condition the delivery of the Welfare Pension on political support and the removal of propaganda or banners from opposition parties.
Reactions and denunciations
Opposition stance: Leaders of parties like the PRI have denounced these actions as extortion, accusing them of profiting from the needs of senior citizens.
Stance of Morena and authorities: Supporters of the ruling party have dismissed the materials, calling them political staged events and electoral theater.
For their part, the electoral authorities have repeatedly reminded that the electoral register and social support are protected by the Constitution, so their delivery cannot be conditioned on any electoral preference.
