American AirlinesĀ is adding several new options for Charlotte travelers looking to enjoy beaches near the Caribbean Sea and other tourist attractions.
Flights betweenĀ Charlotte Douglas InternationalĀ andĀ Tulum, Mexico, will start on March 28, 2024, the airline said Friday. Tickets for the flights to the Mexican coastline town will be available to purchase as of Monday throughĀ aa.comĀ and Americanās mobile app.
American is offering one daily year-round flight to Tulum on the YucatĆ”n Peninsula. Itās 130 miles away from Cancun, Mexico, where the airline operates up to 40 peak-day departures to 18 U.S. destinations.
Additional summer flights out of CLT
Starting June 5, American Airlines is expanding its service from Charlotte toĀ Bridgetown, Barbados, andĀ Liberia, Costa Rica, to be daily service.
And the airline is also expanding service toĀ St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands to two daily flights.
Other changes on American Airlines routes from Charlotte
Last month, American Airlines announced that it was launchingĀ flights to VancouverĀ from Charlotteās airport, starting June 5, 2024. Itās the only nonstop service between North Carolina and British Columbia, Canada.
Other changes on international routes included year-round flights from Charlotte to Madrid, a third daily flight from Charlotte to London-Heathrow, and a seasonal flights to Dublin in March.
Charlotte has one of the worldās busiest airports and is the second largest hub for American Airlines in the U.S. accounting for about 90% of all flights out of CLT
Charlotte ranked as the seventh-busiest airport worldwide for arrivals and departures, according to the Airport Council Internationalās preliminary rankings for 2022. Last year, the airport handled 505,589 arrivals and departures and had more than 47 million passengers.
