Temporary shelters ready in urban and rural areas of Mazatlán; the first people arrive

Mazatlán, Sin.- With the participation of the Civil Protection Coordination, the Public Security Secretariat and the municipal DIF, this Saturday three temporary shelters were enabled in the urban and rural areas of the municipality, to receive people whose homes are located in areas susceptible to flooding.

This measure is part of the actions agreed upon by the authorities, with the aim of being prepared for any emergency caused by the now tropical storm “Norma” in the coming hours.

Eloy Ruiz Gastélum, municipal coordinator of Civil Protection, reported that the shelters at the ICO School in Mazatlán, COBAES 39 in Villa Unión, and the UAS High School in Quelite were supplied with beds, mats, water and groceries to support the population if necessary.

In addition, the personnel that make up the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination make loudspeakers through the streets of the neighborhoods that are on the banks of the Jabalines stream, with the aim of raising awareness among the population and making them alert in case their home is in danger.

Officially, the authorities announced that with the support of the state Civil Protection, four residents of the San Antonio Invasion and three pets have been taken to the temporary shelter located at the ICO school, where they will remain until the weather situation is favorable.
