Cancun adds almost 2,000 rooms in 2024 and more connection to Isla Mujeres

On World Tourism Day, Cancun Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta highlighted the continued hotel development in this tourist destination, with the addition of 1,900 hotel rooms scheduled to be ready next year. In addition, she mentioned the project of a tourist corridor that will connect Cancun with the continental area of Isla Mujeres.

The growth of hotel infrastructure will be concentrated in the area near the Cancún airport, towards the neighboring municipality of Puerto Morelos. The tourist influx in the state of Quintana Roo is increasing, with the forecast of receiving 20 million tourists by the end of this year, the majority of whom visit Cancun, commented the mayor.

The investment in the construction of new hotels was highlighted, including the Live Aqua Riviera Cancún and the Grand Fiesta Americana, which will add a thousand rooms and generate jobs for residents. The total investment in these two projects is 300 million dollars.

In addition, she mentioned the collaboration with the municipal president of Isla Mujeres and the governor of Quintana Roo to develop a tourist corridor that will connect with the continental area of Isla Mujeres, known as Costa Mujeres.

As revealed, according to Javier Aranda Pedrero, director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), the rates of five-star hotels rose 9% during the summer, to about US$551 per night.
