The Government of Quintana Roo, through the General Coordination of Communication, has officially announced the resumption of operations for the Tren Maya route connecting Cancún and Playa del Carmen, alongside the rollout of a new intermodal transportation service designed to improve passenger connectivity.

The reinstated route aims to facilitate seamless travel for both local residents and tourists moving along the Riviera Maya corridor. To complement the train service, the newly introduced intermodal network integrates connecting bus routes, shuttle services, and designated transfer hubs, ensuring smoother transitions between the train stations and key urban centers, beaches, and tourist attractions.

Enhanced Mobility: The coordination between rail and local ground transport seeks to alleviate highway traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and offer a reliable, efficient alternative for daily commuters and travelers.

Tourism and Economic Boost: Local authorities highlighted that improved connectivity will strengthen regional tourism, making it easier for visitors to explore destinations across northern Quintana Roo while supporting sustainable mobility initiatives in the area.
