Cancun hoteliers will lower rates between 10% and 15% during the three months of low season in order to maintain an occupancy of at least 60%, in addition they will continue with promotions both in the United States and in Mexico.

“It depends on each hotel, but on average most will be reducing the rate by between 10 and 15%. But with this loss, they will be able to face the following months,” said Jesús Almaguer Salazar, president of the Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association, according to Sipse.

Within other strategies, hoteliers will promote special prices for Quintana Roo, and promotions with the “day pass”.

The hoteliers of the state’s destinations are finding themselves at a disadvantage compared to other destinations that have opened after the pandemic and that foreign tourists are preferring.

As reported by REPORTUR.mx, the Cancun International Airport has been decreasing the number of flights compared to the more than 600 in a daily basis that it had been operating. In previous days there was already a drop, since an average of 500 operations were arriving. (Cancun gives brake symptoms of slowing down when suffering drop in flights).
