Andrea Meza from Chihuahua is Miss Universe!

The 2020 Miss Universe Competition aired live from Hollywood, Florida, on May 16, 2021.

The last edition’s winner of Miss Universe was Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa. Because of COVID-19-related delays, she is the longest-reigning Miss Universe in the history of the competition. Prior to the crowning of Miss Universe 2020, Tunzi took her final walk on stage before having to relinquish her crown.

Ahead of the winner reveal, the fourth runner-up was announced to be Miss Dominican Republic Kimberly Jimenez.

The third runner-up was Miss India Adline Castelino.

The second runner-up was Miss Peru Janick Maceta.

In her final statement, Mexican Andrea Meza said that she is on for changing beauty standards. She said that society becomes more advanced but beauty isn’t only about how people look. It’s about people’s hearts and the way they love themselves.

The final two were Miss Brazil Julia Gama and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza, but it was Meza who was the winner!

Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was announced as the new Miss Universe. She received her crown, along with a sash and flowers. Meza then took her first walk on stage as Miss Universe 2020.

According to Meza’s Instagram account, she is an ambassador for the Chihuahua Tourism Secretariat, her platform is to stop gender violence, and she works as a software engineer. Meza is also the owner of her self-titled athletic clothing brand Andrea Meza Activewear.
