CDMX, Edomex, Tabasco and Quintana Roo, the states with the most active cases

The Ministry of Health reported 2,695 new cases of COVID-19 in Mexico this Saturday, May 15, accumulating a total of 2,380,690 reported infections. Likewise, after registering 221 new deaths compared to those notified the previous day, the total number of deaths rose to 220,380.

During the usual press conference to report on the progress of the pandemic in the country, Santa Elizabeth Ceballos Liceaga, director of the Epidemiological Surveillance of Communicable Diseases, explained that the contagion curve at the national level presented a decrease of 12%.

Similarly, he estimated that the epidemic at the national level is made up of 19,299 active cases, that is, people who began with signs and symptoms of the disease in the last 14 days (May 02 to 15, 2021) , so if not comply with sanitary measures, could potentially contribute to the transmission of the virus.

In this sense, according to the technical document published on the website of the health agency, Mexico City is the entity with the highest number of active cases (more than 3,000 cases), followed by the State of Mexico, Tabasco and Quintana Roo (more than 1,000), among the four states, concentrate 46% of the active cases in the country.

In contrast, Nayarit, Campeche and Tlaxcala have the least amount of infections of this type: 106, 96 and 79 active cases, respectively.

The foregoing is reflected in the colors of the Epidemiological Traffic Light that will be in force until May 23, where for the sixth consecutive time, there are no entities in “ red ” (maximum risk); 14 entities will remain in “ green ” (low risk): Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Campeche.

In ” yellow ” (moderate risk), 15 entities: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Tamaulipas, Colima, Michoacán, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, Guerrero, Morelos, Yucatán, State of Mexico and Mexico City; and in ” orange ” (high risk) three: Chihuahua, Tabasco and Quintana Roo.

On the other hand, 35,068 (0.1%) of the doses that have reached Mexico have been lost . Said losses are also considered by the vaccination scheme, since before the pandemic this phenomenon was registered due to complications related to their transfer.

In addition, 18,376 people have had reactions ( ESAVI ) to the vaccine that was applied to them, however, only 341 have been serious. Of these, 14,782 are related to Pfizer-BioNTech; 1,660 to AstraZeneca; 925 to SinoVac ; 293 to Sputnik V ; 700 to CanSino ; 12 are unknown and four occurred abroad.
