City Council Official murdered in Cozumel, Quintana Roo

As a result of the gunshot wounds he suffered, Alfredo Partida Esparza, director of Material Resources and Supplies of the Mayor’s Office of the Cozumel City Council died in a hospital on Sunday, May 16th, his murderers are still at large.

One hour after the attack that took place on 55th Avenue between 12 and 14 streets, of the 10 de Abril neighborhood, the Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) reported that an investigation folder for the events that occurred whereattempted murder of a municipal, the man was shot at point blank range, and of the bullets hit him in the head.

The FGE statement indicates that the hitmen fled on a motorcycle and a search operation was activated. However, after the death of Alfredo Partida Esparza, the law enforcement authorities are silent regarding the progress of the investigation.

On Friday night, Pedro Oscar Joaquín Delbouis, the mayor of Cozumel with a license seeking re-election, asked the FGE to investigate the attack in which Partida Esparza finally lost his life, until those responsible are found and brought to justice.

In an unofficial way, it was learned that there is a witness who has information that could lead to the whereabouts of the murderers.

Similarly, rumors circulate that those involved were able to escape the island and that the discovery of alleged human remains bagged in a Cozumel crossroad a few hours before the execution, was a distractor.
