4.5 tons of marijuana discovered among furniture from Mazatlan

shipment of 4.5 tons of marijuana and a clandestine laboratory for the production of narcotics were seized , in two different events held on Saturday, August 8, by elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

The agency detailed that Mexican Army personnel assigned to the Tenth Military Zone, in Durango, Durango, carried out a routine check on a truck that was transporting furniture, from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, bound for Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

Inside the cargo area there were 900 packages made with brown tape , which contained approximately 4,500 kilos of a herb with the characteristics of marijuana.

According to an estimate by the Sedena, the drug could reach a price of 8 million 60 thousand 400 pesos in the illegal market, so the insurance represents an impact on the activity of criminal groups.

The drug, the vehicle and the driver were made available to the authorities of the Federal Public Ministry , for the initiation of the corresponding investigations.

NARCO LAB FOUND IN MOCORITO

It was also reported that within the framework of the National Plan for Peace and Security 2018-2024, and the National Strategy for the Prevention of Addictions “Together for Peace”, a clandestine laboratory was secured in the town of Aguajito de León, in the municipality of Mocorito , Sinaloa.

Five reactors with a condenser tube for organic synthesis, 200 liters of acetone, 125 kilos of soda flake, 175 kilos of tartaric acid and 25 kilos of sodium carbonate were found at the site.

200 liters of ethyl alcohol, 2,750 liters of unknown chemical substances and 1,390 kilos of unknown chemical substances were also insured.

The Sedena reported that, since this Saturday, August 8, elements of the Mexican Army remain in the place providing peripheral security, awaiting the corresponding authorities, pending the chemical opinion of everything found.
