Data compiled from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System reveals a significant upward trend in property disputes across the state of Querétaro, with formal complaints regarding property dispossession (despojo) climbing by 14.6 percent year-over-year.
Rising Statistics and Legal Investigations
According to municipal and state records highlighted by local media, carpetas de investigación (investigative files) opened for illegal property occupation rose from 398 cases registered during the comparative period to 456 cases. This persistent increase underscores growing concerns among residents, legal experts, and authorities regarding regional land tenure security, real estate transparency, and urban growth pressures.
Context of Land and Real Estate Conflicts
The rise in official complaints coincides with heightened public scrutiny surrounding regional land conflicts, including recent high-profile accusations involving property disputes and alleged irregularities within local real estate markets. While real estate development continues to boost economic activity and property values across municipalities like Querétaro, El Marqués, and Corregidora, it has simultaneously brought to light complex disputes over land ownership, ejido rights, and housing fraud that continue to challenge local judicial and administrative institutions.
