The Bajío International Airport (BJX) is significantly expanding its global reach by launching its first-ever direct route connecting central Mexico to Vancouver, Canada. Scheduled to begin operations on October 3, 2026, the new service will be operated by Flair Airlines.

Strengthening Tourism and Bilateral Ties

State tourism authorities and airport representatives highlighted that the new route represents a milestone for regional development, establishing Vancouver as the thirteenth international destination accessible from the Bajío terminal.

Aircraft and Capacity: Flights will be serviced by Boeing 737 MAX aircraft accommodating up to 189 passengers.

Frequency: Initial schedules will feature weekly flights, operating on Saturdays before transitioning to Thursday services.

Economic Impact: The direct connection aims to boost incoming tourism from Canada—one of the region’s key international visitor markets—while providing seamless, non-stop travel options for business professionals and local residents.

By bridging the Bajío region directly with the Pacific Northwest, the new air service reinforces Guanajuato’s position as a strategically vital transportation hub, facilitating cultural exchange and expanding travel opportunities across North America.
