The municipality of Querétaro has demonstrated remarkable economic vitality, officially registering 2,156 new business openings during the first half of 2026, according to figures released by the local Secretariat of Sustainable Development. This steady growth highlights the region’s ongoing appeal as a prime destination for commercial investment, entrepreneurship, and urban expansion.
Local authorities emphasized that the period’s economic balance remains highly favorable for the capital’s business community. While 766 establishments requested official closures or deregistrations between January and early July, the resulting net gain stands at 1,390 new businesses. This means that approximately 2.8 commercial ventures successfully opened their doors for every single establishment that ceased operations.
Furthermore, municipal data indicates a notable 63% decrease in business closures compared to previous cycles, reflecting heightened stability, strengthened consumer confidence, and improved commercial resilience throughout the metropolitan area. The new economic units span a diverse range of sectors, including retail, specialized services, and local enterprises, driven in part by municipal efforts to streamline licensing processes and encourage formal economic activity.
