A 35-year-old man named Víctor “N” was found dead on the night of Friday, August 7, 2026, near a river in the community of Galvanes, located within the municipality of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. Víctor had been reported missing six days earlier from the neighboring community of San Martín de la Petaca, situated roughly two kilometers from where his body was discovered.
Local security forces cordoned off the area around the riverbank immediately after the body was reported. Investigators and forensic personnel from the Regional Fiscalía General del Estado (State Attorney General’s Office) arrived at the scene to gather evidence and initiate formal investigative proceedings.
At this stage of the investigation, official sources have not established the exact cause of death. Preliminary details indicate that authorities have not yet confirmed whether the body showed visible signs of physical trauma or violence, or whether the death resulted from natural causes or accidental drowning.
Following the preliminary on-site inspection, the body was transferred to the facilities of the Servicio Médico Forense (SEMEFO) for a legal necropsy. The forensic examination is expected to determine the precise cause, time, and circumstances of death, as well as reveal whether foul play was a factor. State authorities continue their investigation to reconstruct Víctor’s movements during the six days following his disappearance from San Martín de la Petaca.
