Cenotes Urbanos team member Miguel Angel Guillermo Amador (@miguelgmo) risked everything to capture shocking footage of the Tren Maya ripping through the Yucatán’s underground cenotes.
This is the hidden destruction beneath the rainforest, the pollution, the collapse, the loss of what draws people here in the first place.
Without Miguel’s courage, the world wouldn’t see what’s really happening.
Thousands of Mexicans on social networks are thanking Miguel Angel and the whole team of Cenotes Urbanos for their fearless work to protect these sacred waters of the Yucatan Peninsula.
In the coming days, Cenotes Urbanos will be telling more about this story, one of environmental disaster and of a cultural legacy at risk of being buried beneath steel and concrete as a consequence of AMLO’s whim and his evident ignorance, committing the worst ecocide in Mexico’s history.
This isn’t just about an illegal train. It’s about the choices made by a bad government: what they decided to destroy instead of preserve.
The question at this point is, what are we as society willing to allow to be sacrificed?
