Mexican federal authorities have dealt a major financial blow to organized crime following the seizure of 150 kilograms (approximately 330 pounds) of methamphetamine in the northern border state of Baja California.

According to Mexico’s Security Cabinet, the massive drug haul has an estimated street value of 38 million Mexican pesos (roughly $2.2 million USD). Authorities confirmed that the operation successfully removed approximately 3.75 million individual doses of the synthetic drug from circulation before they could reach consumers.

The seizure was the result of a coordinated, multi-agency effort involving elements from the Secretariat of Security and Citizens Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).

Official reports indicate that the operation stemmed from intelligence gathered during a previous law enforcement action. Investigators established a clear line of inquiry following the recent arrest of two individuals who were caught in possession of 68 kilograms of “crystal” methamphetamine. By expanding upon the data obtained from those arrests, federal agents were able to locate and intercept the additional 150-kilogram shipment.

“This drug equivalent to more than 3 million doses will not reach the streets,” Mexico’s Security Cabinet announced in a statement shared across social media platforms. Officials emphasized that targeting the financial structures of drug cartels remains a core priority, and this specific operation represents a severe economic disruption to local trafficking networks.

All of the confiscated narcotics have been handed over to the Federal Public Ministry, which is tasked with integrating the evidence into the ongoing criminal investigation and finalizing the necessary legal proceedings. Federal institutions reiterated their commitment to maintaining inter-agency cooperation to curb drug trafficking and strengthen public safety across the country.
