A group of young people publicly denounced alleged physical assaults, threats, and labor abuses related to the “Tierra del Mar” hotel, located in Holbox.
According to testimony shared on social media, the events occurred when the owners of the hotel, identified as Cristian and Constanza, of Italian origin, allegedly went to a house rented by several current and former hotel employees. There, they reportedly insulted and physically assaulted some of them after accusing them of theft.
According to the complaint, a young woman was slapped and insulted, while another victim claimed to have been verbally and physically beaten, although he chose not to retaliate. They also stated that one of their colleagues was forcibly removed from the house.
The complainants allege that during their time working at the hotel, they faced labor irregularities, including direct payroll deductions to cover rent, withholding of tips, and constant mistreatment.

They even stated that tips given to staff were minimal and could be taken away as punishment for being late.
Furthermore, they accused the owners of making threats during the conflict that they would be prevented from finding employment at other hotels on the island, due to their alleged influence.
Through social media, the young people sought support from others who had worked at the hotel and claimed to have experienced similar situations, with the aim of gathering testimonies and filing formal complaints with the appropriate authorities.
