A Belgian photographer had to be rescued after getting lost in the Lacandona Jungle

After his disappearance, Civil Protection authorities began a search and rescue operation, managing to save him without harm to his health.

A Belgian tourist was rescued at the La Ventana Ecotourism Center, located in the municipality of Palenque, Chiapas, after getting lost in the jungle while trying to photograph specimens of howler monkeys.

The foreigner was identified as Jules de Bie, 21 years old, who on Tuesday, October 29, around 10:00 a.m., went out for a walk along the trails and gradually entered the mountain vegetation.

Approximately an hour later, the group he was traveling with noticed his absence and requested support from the authorities to begin their search and rescue.

Given this situation, municipal Civil Protection elements deployed an operation in the area.

During the work, the tourist managed to contact the 911 emergency number by phone to provide his location. Finally, after several hours, the young man was rescued and brought to safety.
