Activists reported that around 70 dogs, cats, and pigeons were poisoned in Maravatío

In the complaint that was spread by independent activists, it was said that the dogs allegedly consumed poisoned kibble in the community of Apeo.

Following a complaint of animal abuse, the authorities were able to enter the house.

At least 70 dogs, cats, and pigeons were poisoned in the community of Apeo, municipality of Maravatío, Michoacán, according to a public complaint by independent activists.

Medali Chamorro Ramírez, an animal protector and activist with a career spanning more than 10 years, said that on Thursday, October 17th, she received a call in which she was notified about the presence of numerous bleeding dogs in the public road.

According to Quadratín Michoacán, the activist went to the site to check the news where she was shocked by the devastating scene of animals of different species lying dead all over the streets. During her tour, the animal protection agency found kibble contaminated with a blue powder, a poison that was lethal to the animals.

Activists demand that the Michoacán Attorney General’s Office act against these acts of animal cruelty

In light of these events, the activist launched a forceful “enough of so much animal cruelty!” and demanded that the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the state government, and the Maravatío city council act decisively to enforce the laws against animal cruelty.

Although on Friday, October 18, the Zitácuaro delegation of the FGR went to file a complaint, she was not given the investigation file number, although the activist is confident that a serious investigation will be carried out.

In this regard, Chamorro Ramírez recalled that these acts are not isolated and that, for three years, around 200 dogs and cats have died in similar circumstances, in addition to the birds that are affected by consuming the poisoned kibble scattered in the streets, in a purely criminal act.
