The phenomenon, according to meteorological experts, is due to the interaction of hot and cold air masses that generate instability in the atmosphere.

With the arrival of winter, the coat becomes the indispensable ally of Mexicans, and this year, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the cold could intensify, especially in the north and northwest of the country during November and December.

The SMN reports that thirteen cold fronts, five in November and eight in December, will be the protagonists of the drop in temperatures, transforming the landscape and leading some states such as Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua and Durango to possibly face temperatures down to 0 °C in the coming weeks.

The phenomenon, according to meteorological experts, is due to the interaction of hot and cold air masses that generate instability in the atmosphere.

This year, climatic factors, such as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), the Arctic Oscillation (AO), the Pacific North America Pattern (PNA) and the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), will influence the intensity, duration and frequency of cold fronts.

The minimum temperatures expected for November will be below 25 °C in much of the country, and in some areas of the north and northwest, values between 0 and 10 °C are anticipated.

This forecast has led residents in affected regions to prepare with extra jackets, gloves and scarves.

Although winter could be especially frigid for the north, the center and the Gulf Coast will experience temperatures similar to previous years.

Mexicans are once again challenged by nature, remembering that winter not only brings with it white and welcoming landscapes, but also the need to adapt to changing weather conditions.
