Elements of the Prosecutor’s Office worked for more than 12 hours in actions by air and land to locate those who, allegedly, are kidnappers

More than 10 properties used as “safe houses” by members of organized crime were searched during an operation in the Papaloapan Basin that covered at least 4 municipalities in this region north of Oaxaca and bordering Veracruz.

In the actions, 4 people linked to these criminal groups were arrested, reported the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO).

According to the prosecutor’s office, it was a “Strategic Operation by air and land”, which was carried out in coordination with elements of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) and the State Police and in which more than 10 houses were intervened in the municipalities of San Pedro Ixcatlán, Jalapa de Díaz, San Lucas Ojitlán and San Bartolomé Ayautla.

Through a statement, last night the FGEO reported that said operation was carried out in four municipalities due to the increase in the incidence of crime in the Cuenca region, mainly High Impact crimes such as kidnapping.

About a hundred elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), assigned to the prosecutor’s office, as well as the Navy and the State Police, as well as a helicopter and all-terrain vehicles, participated in the actions. With them, reviews were carried out in more than 10 homes in the municipalities of San Pedro Ixcatlán, Jalapa de Díaz, San Lucas Ojitlán and San Bartolomé Ayautla.

“For more than 12 hours, the uniformed officers managed to arrest four people, three men identified with the initials R.J.H., J.R.C.C., C.G.S., and a woman: K.T.M., in addition to locating safe houses and skeletal remains that could correspond to humans” , the prosecutor’s office reported.

The law enforcement agency added that the operation derived from previous intelligence actions that “allowed the location of priority objectives, as well as houses used to commit the crime of kidnapping.”

“This Thursday, November 9, at seven in the morning, the operation began that visited four towns in the region in search of priority objectives, as well as responding to the increase in the incidence of crime, which concluded after 8 pm,” he added.

This operation is carried out a few days after Gerardo Domínguez, former mayor of Jacatepec and operator of Morena in that region, who was kidnapped for 18 days, was released on November 2, following operations in Tuxtepec by the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination (Conase).

During 2023, Oaxaca accumulates 23 kidnapping folders

According to data from the Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), Oaxaca has accumulated 23 investigation folders for the crime of kidnapping until September 2023, while since 2022 there have been 54; In the same period of that year the entity reported 25.
