A “nightmare scenario,” as described by the National Hurricane Center, unfolded early Wednesday morning in southern Mexico as Tropical Cyclone Otis unexpectedly and incredibly intensified into a hurricane category 5. A CNN team covering the phenomenon was trapped by its fury.
