Given the approach of Tropical Storm Lidia in the Pacific, Mazatlán hoteliers remain vigilant and prepare to avoid any risk to their guests, workers and facilities.
The proximity of Lidia keeps Mazatlán on blue alert and the municipalities of Concordia, Cosalá, Elota, Escuinapa, Mazatlán, Rosario and San Ignacio are attentive, since heavy rains are expected for this region.
The president of the 3 Islas Hotel Association, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, stated that they are in constant communication with the authorities to receive information regarding the meteorological phenomenon that could become a category 1 hurricane.
“We have a series of guidelines to comply with, precisely to be able to counteract any effect due to excess rain or wind, objects that are not going to fly, clearing of public areas, there are many things,” he said.
He recalled that every year, prior to the start of the hurricane season on May 15, Civil Protection provides training to all lodging establishment staff so that they know how to act.
He highlighted the importance of having all the necessary supplies so that in the event of a contingency occurs, we can move forward without any setback.
“We are in frequent communication with the municipal Civil Protection coordination, to be prepared as humanly possible in case it is required,” he said.
They maintain occupation
The hotel leader stated that the presence of tropical storm Lidia in the Pacific and its possible impact on the southern area of the state of Sinaloa, so far has not generated any negative effect on hotel occupancy, which remains maintained during the weekends by 75 percent.
