For the first time in Mexico, the largest K-pop festival in the country will be held, in which 16 of the most relevant groups of the genre will perform at Parque Bicentenario.
“The power of music makes the world a little happier through a note,” said Daniel Miranda, director of the Kamp México 2023 festival, who together with Kamp Global CEO Tim Kim, revealed details of the festival at a press conference.
The room was filled with expectation and suspense, since it is the first k-pop festival in the country, in addition to announcing that it is not only a musical but also an artistic and cultural event, in which they will participate hand in hand with the Mexico City’s own government to guarantee security and transportation, the Korean embassy in Mexico to enrich the cultural vision and the pairing between Mexico and Korea and visual artists of international stature that will surprise with the level of production in the event.
“We all know the music festivals that take place year after year, they are almost always the same genres, rock, pop, reggaeton, but why not k-pop? We realized that the country lacked a massive space for the genre since Mexico contains k-poppers from the heart”, says Miranda, who demonstrated it at the beginning of the conference, because to deliver the great news, a group of k-poppers danced different choreographies between colors and glitter, and this is just the beginning of the festival.
After an emotional drum roll, the first line-up of eight groups was finally revealed, including BamBam, iKON, Lapillus, TFN, Chung Ha, Kard, Sik-K with friends and Viviz. The next eight groupings will be revealed after Easter Sunday.
The wait for the second line-up and the nature of the concert guarantee a high demand for tickets, which is why season tickets, phases, prices, and even the map of the venue were announced. The prices per person vary from 1,990 pesos for the two days in the first phase or higher prices for attending the VIP area, where there will be special access to view the catwalk and merchandise from the groups.
Whatever type of ticket is purchased and which bands are to be seen, Kamp Fest 2023 paints to be not only a monster of new festivals but also a huge party to celebrate the close relationship between Korea and Mexico and especially between K-pop and its biggest fans.
From the oldest to the youngest k-poppers, they will be able to enjoy their favorite bands, artistic installations, didactic activations, and even special tents to marry their favorite idol, generate a marriage certificate and take lots of photos. A capacity of fifty thousand people is expected per day and two days that will be full of choreography, music, sparkles, culture, and art.
The appointment is on August 19 and 20 on the stage of the Teatro del Pueblo del Parque Bicentenario from three in the afternoon until one in the morning.
