TLAQUEPAQUE JALISCO, The government of Morena in the municipality of Tlaquepaque, Jalisco is facing citizen complaints related to irregular towing operations and alleged excessive towing fees, in addition to criticism regarding insecurity and robberies in the area.
The context and complaints on this issue are divided into two specific situations:
Abuses in towing operations: Several complaints accuse the administration of Mayor Laura Imelda Pérez Segura, of the Morena party, of carrying out operations with tow trucks that remove cars parked on public streets.
Citizens and political figures have denounced these towing operations as “kidnapping” of vehicles, since those affected must pay fines and towing fees of between $5,000 and $10,000 pesos to release them.
Security crisis: The municipality faces a high incidence of car theft and armed robberies by criminal groups, crimes for which opposition leaders have criticized the municipal government’s response and strategy.
