May closed with an occupancy of 73%, this is six points above what was registered in the same period of 2019; catapulting Los Cabos as the destination with the greatest recovery nationally and internationally.

Los Cabos already registers palpable numbers of recovery, only compared to 2019 this month of May closed six points above, as highlighted by the executive president of the Los Cabos Hotel Association. Putting in cold numbers, this important jump that the destination has achieved, where during the same month in 2021, a total occupation of 53% was registered, this indicates that tourism increased by 20% in the last year.

This has been thanks to the promotional work carried out by both the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) and the partner hotels.

“Summer is going to be a busy summer, May left us with a preliminary closing, this closing can vary a little by 73%, which if we compare it with 2019 we are six points higher; in 2017 we did not even reach 70%. Which is good news, this is the result of all this promotional work that is done through Fiturca and also through the marketing and sales departments of the hotels.”

Más del 70% de ocupación reporta Los Cabos en vacaciones de verano

Only the Datatur Hotel Monitoring has detailed that Los Cabos is the destination with the best recovery, registering an average occupancy of 60% during this first half of the year. These numbers have been thanks to the correct application of the health protocols that have allowed recovery.

“It is important to remember that not all destinations in Mexico are undergoing recovery, due to the numbers that Los Cabos has, note that not only in Mexico, but throughout the world. There is a sequel to these two years in tourism and it will recover little by little; however, Los Cabos had several factors such as the correct application of the protocols, and timely because we began to move as a united destination very soon.”

Nature has been a fundamental factor, allowing tourists to carry out outdoor activities without running the risk of contagion by Covid-19.

“Los Cabos offers a lot of nature, many outdoor activities, many and that is something that tourism is looking for, it is a new trend; In addition, we must remember that Los Cabos offers a lot of infrastructure and luxury tourism has more than doubled in recent years and it is thanks to these factors that it is consolidating.”

Increasing the direct connection with other cities has been key for Los Cabos, highlighting that the increase in frequencies such as Guadalajara, Tijuana and CDMX allow national tourism to already represent 30% of the total tourism that visits us, when only in 2019 represented 10%.
