They travel through Celaya without finding remains

With the participation of five search groups, an accompaniment day was held on July 6 by the National Search Commission (CNB) on land in Celaya suspected of having clandestine burials, but nothing was found.

This was reported by the CNB and relatives of the disappeared, also confirmed the negative result.

The latest CNB report indicates that in the country, from December 1, 2018, to March 15, 2022, 2,132 clandestine graves were located and 3,619 bodies were exhumed.

Guanajuato belongs to the five states that contribute more than half of the numbers of clandestine graves and exhumed bodies.

In the state, 150 graves were found (7.95% of the total) and 281 bodies were exhumed (7.74% of the accumulated in the country).

Figures differ

While the CNB confirmed the discovery of 150 clandestine graves from 2018 to March 2022, the Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office has detected 11 graves from 2020 to date.

Although the number of bodies found by the State Prosecutor’s Office exceeds the 281 exhumed bodies according to the figures of the National Search Commission.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, 361 bodies have been found in Guanajuato, of those 259 they already have a name and surname, and another 102 have not yet been identified.

For its part, the State Search Commission has not yet made public its second quarterly report this year.

One of the solutions that would help to have matching data is the standardization of the terms grave and clandestine burial.

The initiative is in the freezer and was promoted by Libia Dennise Muñoz Ledo, current secretary of the Government of Guanajuato .
