Bread, traditional food, chocolate and cultural events will be part of their party that will take place from December 22 to 24.

Oaxaca.- The Oaxacan municipality of Tlacolula de Matamoros, located in the Central Valleys region and 40 minutes from the state capital, will hold the 4th edition of the Bread, Chocolate and Gastronomy Fair, which will be held from December 22-24.

This event is one of its most important gastronomic festivals and you will be able to taste a great variety of traditional bread, food, and drinks, as well as art exhibitions and a cultural program.

The undersecretary of Tourism Development of the Oaxaca Sector, Abdón Vázquez Villalobos, stressed that with the sum of efforts between the agency and the population of Tlacolula de Matamoros, it seeks to promote tourism, one of the sectors most affected by the health crisis that still faces and thus gradually recover the positioning of the attractions of this municipality.

He expressed that the traditional bakers, merchants, and cooks are guardians of the gastronomic treasures of Tlacolula de Matamoros, who make great efforts for a safe and responsible reactivation; and give with this fair, a respite to the economy of the population.

The merchant and baker, Eva Aquino Luis, announced that it will be possible to taste the traditional bakery, chocolate, roasted meats, leg broth, barbecue, and ice cream, in addition to having the participation of artisan women and men.

Mainly the bakery and its historical importance for the population will be highlighted in this fair, said the merchant and baker, Adelfo López Matías, who explained that bread is present in all the events of the daily life of the inhabitants of Tlacolula de Matamoros.

He said that casserole bread, yellow bread, chopped bread, butter, sesame, marquesote, mollette, and pelonas are just some of the types of bread that can be found at the fair.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of Women of Tlacolula and promoter of the fair, Biaani Palomec Enriquez, assured that there will be a great party where the identity of Tlacolula de Matamoros and the work of chocolate producers, bakers and merchants will be disseminated and promoted.

This fourth fair, he said, is the result of the sum of efforts with Legislator Noé Doroteo Castillejos, as part of a whole strategy for the economic reactivation of one of the most colorful and symbolic areas of Oaxaca, such as the Tlacolula Valley.

“Let’s help Oaxaca by consuming the quality products produced by our people, who with their work and dedication give identity to our state,” he said.

The 4th Bread, Chocolate, and Gastronomy Fair will be held in compliance with sanitary regulations from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and can be found inside the Martín González municipal market and in the church atrium, located in the center of the town.
