Third Michelin Cities Conference in 2022 based in Querétaro

Luis Bernardo Nava, Municipal President, participated in the General Assembly of the International Network of Michelin Cities, where he virtually announced that Querétaro will host the “Third Conference of Michelin Cities” in March 2022.

For this conference, the capital will host 43 cities from around the world with events, conferences and dialogues that will lead to commitments for sustainable development for its inhabitants and for the entire planet. 

The mayor also reported that for this edition the face-to-face format will be resumed, taking care of all health measures. 

The topics to be addressed in this conference are: circular economy; implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in local governments; business and sustainability; research and innovation; sustainable urban planning; mobility; and culture and education.

Nava added that having the possibility of receiving the members of the cities full of enthusiasm to be the epicenter of bilateral or multilateral projects for the benefit of the inhabitants of each invited city.

“One of the great benefits of this Network is the possibility of being a meeting point where the cities that we are part of can share our best practices and learn from each other,” said the mayor.

These are the proposed panelists for the conference

Among the proposed panelists are: Kate Raworth, author of the book “Donut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st Century Economist”; Raj Sisodia, thought leader of the Conscious Capitalism movement; Kotchakorn Voraakhom, Founder and CEO of the Porous City Network social enterprise.

It is also proposed to Olivier Bianchi, mayor of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, founder and Co-President of the International Network of Michelin Cities; Gemma H. ​​Santana Medina, specialist in sustainability, climate change, innovation and social enterprises; Alain Jordá, expert in sustainable local development. 

The list continues with María del Coro Arizmendi Arriaga, Mexican scientist and academic; in addition to the Municipal President of Querétaro himself, Luis Nava, co-President of the International Network of Michelin Cities.

For the youth, the Michelin Cities Conference will also be a meeting point for the design of a better future, for which Luis Nava proposed to grant scholarships to two young people from each city to participate in the dialogue for innovative projects.  

Regarding the care of the environment, in this edition, the maximum of recyclable or reusable materials will be used, and the carbon footprint generated will be measured to replace it through reforestation.
