The recent 7 pm bulletin from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) indicates that Dolores continues to strengthen 235 km south-southwest of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán and 395 km south-southeast of Manzanillo, Colima, presenting wind sustained 80 km / h with gusts close to 110 km / h. Its movement is towards the northwest at 11 km / h, which indicates that it is increasingly closer to the south and west of Mexico, increasing waves with torrential rains .

The forecast indicates that the tropical storm could approach the hurricane category during the first hours of this Saturday, before making landfall at some point between Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco in the afternoon of tomorrow. Torrential rains with accumulated 250 to 500 mm following 24 hours south of Guerrero, Michoacán, much of Colima and south-central Jalisco, being less in Nayarit and between Sinaloa – Durango, as well as in central Mexican states.

The wind will increase as the system gets closer to land in these states, the fall of trees / palm trees, spectacular, power cuts, unroofing of homes, etc. The effects of rain and wind will begin to be felt more significantly from tonight, increasing tomorrow depending on the intensity that this storm acquires due to its proximity to land, but still located over very warm waters of the Pacific.

It is very important that the population heed the indications of the authorities before the imminent impact of the first tropical cyclone of this 2021 season, which will help reduce the drought , but floods, river overflows, landslides, urban flooding and dangerous water currents would be expected. They should also identify temporary shelters and evacuation routes if necessary, not forgetting to bring a mask and important documents.
