The day with the most murders was Monday, October 5, as there were 32 homicides and the attack on a wake that left 5 people dead.
In the first five days of October, at least 92 people have been killed in different parts of the state of Guanajuato.
According to the daily report of intentional homicides published by the federal government – which is preliminary since it is carried out with media reports and prosecutors – the most violent day was Monday, October 5, since 32 homicides were registered. It is followed by last Thursday October 1st, in which 19 murders were registered.
This Tuesday, five people died and four were injured after a group of armed men opened fire at a home located in the town of Jaral del Progreso, where a wake was being held.
Later on the same day, another armed group killed two men and a woman in La Cruz and, in a separate incident, four other people – two women and two men – were shot down in Irapuato.
On the other hand, in Celaya, the remains of at least two people were found in four bags that were left near a market.
Along with the bags, a message was found signed by the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) that read “Keep it clean or we’ll get you”.
A merchant was shot dead at the entrance of a hotel in the center of Celaya, while in Salamanca two other people were killed in the downtown area of that city.
The Mexican authorities have not ruled on any of these homicides, for which there have been no detainees so far.
So far this year, Guanajuato has registered more than 40 massacres. Among the most recent, stands out the attack on a detoxification center in which about twenty people died and another seven were injured.
