“I Never Forgot Them”: Woman Launches Search for Couple Who Opened Their Home to Her in 2000

- October 7, 2026

A Spanish woman is using social media to launch a poignant search for a couple in Puebla, Mexico, who hosted her and provided a warm welcome more than a quarter-century ago.

Begoña Velicias took to social platforms to share her story, seeking to reconnect with Fidel and Mónica. According to Velicias, the couple took her into their home in the year 2000 during her visit to the Angelópolis region for an international scout meeting.

Velicias recalled the couple’s kindness with great fondness, noting that they were around 40 years old at the time—placing them at approximately 65 years of age today. Although she spent only a short time with them, the impact of their hospitality remained with her. She revealed that she still keeps a wooden candle they gave her as a parting gift, which included a handwritten note with their home address.

However, her attempts to reconnect have met with significant hurdles. Velicias stated that she has tried sending several letters to the address provided, but all were returned as undeliverable. Recently, she met a young woman from Puebla who attempted to help her locate the home; however, the woman reported finding only a series of buildings where the original house once stood.

In a video shared online, Velicias expressed her deep desire to find them, stating that she has “something very important” to tell them after 26 years. She is appealing to the public for any information, asking anyone who recognizes her story or knows the couple to contact her privately.

“I have never forgotten them,” Velicias shared, emphasizing that she wishes to honor the enduring memory of their gesture of kindness.
