Chiapas is gearing up for an intensive tourism and promotional agenda designed to expand the state’s reach both nationally and internationally. According to the state’s Secretary of Tourism, the strategy centers on strengthening nature tourism, introducing new cultural events, and aggressively expanding regional flight connections.

Key Highlights of the Tourism Initiative:

Expanded Air Routes: State officials are actively coordinating with commercial carriers like Viva and Volaris to establish new direct routes, with strong possibilities pointing toward connections with Oaxaca and Monterrey. Additional promotional efforts in international hubs like Houston aim to draw more visitors from Texas.

Upcoming Events and Attractions: The state is preparing for prominent upcoming events, including the Carrera Panamericana in October and new editions of cultural festivals like Mequé, alongside a dedicated focus on international promotion in markets such as Guadalajara, San Diego, and Quebec.

Mountain Tourism Development: A top priority project is currently underway at the Tacaná Volcano to upgrade and modernize the mountain tourism experience, with completion anticipated ahead of an official inauguration by Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar.

These ongoing infrastructure and promotional efforts reflect a comprehensive push to consolidate Chiapas as one of Mexico’s premier, highly accessible destinations for travelers seeking rich natural landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage.
