Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and former Organization Secretary of the ruling Morena party, announced that the United States government has revoked his travel visa.

In an open letter addressed directly to U.S. President Donald Trump, López Beltrán condemned the action as politically motivated and urged Trump to remove U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau from their positions.

According to reporting on the diplomatic rift by Politico MX, López Beltrán shared the statement on social media after receiving official notification from U.S. authorities. He characterized the visa cancellation as a “crude and perverse outrage,” labeling the decision as “political, petty, and propagandistic in a Hitlerian style,” and noted that U.S. officials provided no evidence of wrongdoing on his part.

In his letter, López Beltrán questioned whether President Trump was personally aware of the visa revocation or if the action was driven by internal ideological opposition to Morena.

“Andy”, (as he is widely known in Mexico), launched a sharp critique against Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau, and other U.S. foreign policy officials, accusing them of acting like political “hawks” and gang leaders who harass and undermine foreign political figures aligned with Mexico’s political movement. López Beltrán directly challenged Trump, asking why he does not dismiss Rubio, Landau, and other officials holding similar views.

López Beltrán insisted that losing access to U.S. travel does not bother him, remarking that he is content to wait until political circumstances in Washington change. He stated that he has no interest in visiting during what he described as “decadent and lamentable times of hatred, racism, and drug addiction,” while expressing hope for a future U.S. administration that upholds mutual respect and sovereignty, as highlighted by Infobae.

The visa action comes as López Beltrán actively pursues his own political path in Mexico. After stepping down from Morena’s organizational leadership earlier this year, he launched political activities in Tabasco seeking a nomination as a federal deputy for the state’s 6th Congressional District in Mexico’s upcoming legislative elections.

The U.S. Department of State has not publicly commented on individual visa decisions or disclosed specific reasons for the revocation.
