CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA — Embraer México officially inaugurated its manufacturing operations in the state of Chihuahua on Monday, August 10th, marking the Brazilian aerospace giant’s first direct production facility in Mexico and creating more than 1,200 direct jobs.
Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos joined Embraer executives, including Chief Operating Officer Anderson Nascimento and Vice President of Corporate Communications Andreza Alberto, to celebrate the facility’s opening. The plant specializes in producing interior aircraft components, such as overhead luggage compartments, galleys, lavatories, and floor panels. These manufactured systems will be exported to key global markets, including Brazil, the United States, France, and Singapore.
During the launch event, Governor Campos highlighted the economic impact of the investment, thanking company leaders for offering high-quality employment opportunities to local workers. She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting the facility’s operational goals, emphasizing that public-private collaboration fosters economic development and improves the regional quality of life.
The arrival of Embraer further solidifies Chihuahua’s position as Mexico’s primary aerospace hub. The state leads the nation in aerospace production, generating a gross output of 16.961 billion pesos (roughly 36 percent of Mexico’s total aerospace manufacturing) and recording aerospace exports exceeding $2 billion in 2025.
Globally, Embraer employs over 23,000 workers across operations in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe, ranking as the world’s third-largest commercial aircraft manufacturer behind Boeing and Airbus.
The inauguration ceremony brought together prominent state officials, industry leaders, and academic representatives. Key attendees included Chihuahua City Mayor Marco Bonilla; Ulises Fernández, Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development; Luis Manuel Azúa, President of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA); Myrna de las Casas, Director of INDEX México; along with Embraer México CFO Christian Okada and Plant Director Adolfo Viramontes.
Industry analysts view Embraer’s expansion as a major milestone for Mexico’s nearshoring momentum, strengthening local supply chains and elevating North America’s advanced aerospace manufacturing footprint.
