WESTFIELD, Ind. — Mexico solidified its status as a global powerhouse in flag football on Saturday after the Under-15 Mexican Girls’ National Team captured the title at the prestigious NFL Flag Championship held in Westfield, Indiana, according to a report by Latinus.
The young Mexican squad delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, capping off their campaign with a decisive 20–7 victory over Panama in the championship final. The championship win further demonstrates Mexico’s dominance in the rapidly growing sport across all age groups.
The success in Indiana extends an impressive streak for Mexican flag football on the international stage. Last year, Mexico’s senior women’s national team earned a gold medal and secured back-to-back world titles at the World Games in Chengdu, China, after defeating the United States in the final.
The U-15 girls were not the only Mexican athletes making headlines at the tournament. Mexico’s mixed Under-15 team also put together a strong run, earning a silver medal after a closely contested 19–13 defeat against Canada in their respective final match.
These youth victories carry significant momentum as the sport continues to expand globally. Flag football is set to make its official debut as an Olympic sport at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Games, heightening interest and investment in developmental programs across North America.
With dominant performances from both its senior athletes and emerging youth prospects, Mexico continues to prove itself as a formidable contender for future Olympic podiums, establishing a strong foundation for the sport’s international future.
