The hacking of cadastral systems in several municipalities of Jalisco has been confirmed. The databases are already circulating on Telegram, putting thousands of properties at risk.
Affected municipalities with the highest property values in the region:
- Puerto Vallarta – Tourist and hotel zone with high real estate value.
- Chapala – Main destination for foreigners and retirees on the lakefront.
- Jocotepec – Expanding area with developments and lake views.
- Tlaquepaque – Metropolitan area with significant commercial and tourist activity.
Why is this serious?
The leaked data includes complete property information. Experts warn that it could be used for fraud, squatting in abandoned houses, or illegal property transfers: “This house has no owner, so I’ll move in.”
