Sir Elton John wrote the following on social networks:

I am excited to announce that I will be performing two nights at Banorte Stadium on 2 and 3 October.
Mexico City has always held a special place in my heart. I was truly disappointed that the pandemic kept me from touring Latin America during my Farewell tour which makes this return especially meaningful. I’m thrilled to finally share this very special moment with my fans after all these years…

Elton John will return to Mexico after 14 years to perform two farewell concerts at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City on October 2nd and 3rd.

The iconic British singer-songwriter will become the first artist to perform at the newly renovated venue, formerly known as Estadio Azteca. The dates will also mark the final leg of his historic Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (July 7th) by promoter AEG Presents in a statement shared with Billboard. The company noted that the superstar had to cancel his 2022 concerts after contracting COVID-19. His return to Mexico also represents a promise fulfilled for the fans who were left waiting for those postponed dates.

According to the statement, the evening is conceived as a moving celebration honoring both the artist and a city “that has preserved his memory and celebrated his music for years.”
