At the TEC Business Summit 2025, businesspeople agreed that society demands responsibility for employees and the environment beyond profitability.
Society demands businesspeople who care about their employees and the environment, not just about profitability, Mexican businesspeople agreed at the TEC Business Summit 2025, “Human Leadership: Transforming Companies through Care and Empathy.”
The panel included Janet Mercadillo, Wella Mexico VP Supply Chain and General Manager of the Mariscala plant; Fernando Moreno, Environmental Sustainability Health and Safety Country Head, SGS Mexico; as well as Lorena Jiménez, president of the Coparmex Commission for Well-being and Social Inclusion; and Genaro Montes, the state’s Undersecretary of Economic Development.
During the discussion, they highlighted the changes they have implemented at the public and private levels to protect the environment and the policies to support the comprehensive development of their employees.
Lorena Jiménez, president of the Coparmex Wellbeing and Social Inclusion Commission, emphasized that society is now seeking work environments where workers can thrive and that are a safe space.
“Today, the country is demanding business owners with different values, different principles, and who are truly committed to profitability, but also to seeking the well-being of their employees,” she emphasized.
Furthermore, Janet Mercadillo, Wella Mexico VP Supply Chain and general manager of the Mariscala plant, stated that the company invests in employee training and development.
Meanwhile, Fernando Moreno, Environmental Sustainability, Health and Safety Country Head, SGS Mexico, explained that in addition to current regulations, initiatives to generate biofuels, reinsert water into aquifers, and implement labor strategies have permeated companies. This, he asserted, generates credibility in companies by focusing on social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
“To achieve results and maximize the benefits of all companies, we must first trust our people, and that’s where everything comes from, through leadership, generating strategies, and synergies,” he stated.
Likewise, the state’s Undersecretary of Economic Development, Genaro Montes, explained that strategies for environmental protection include eco-schools and the environmental fund.
