The Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), through the Mexico City Airport Group, S.A. de C.V. (GACM), in coordination with the airline Volaris, announced the entry into operation of the new Ciudad Obregón – Monterrey route, to bring Sonora and Nuevo León ever closer.
With three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Volaris strengthens its presence in Mexico by offering more flight options through Airbus 320 aircraft with a capacity for 186 passengers, thus facilitating the transfer of people and cargo quickly, efficiently, and safely between the East and West of the northern region of the country.
By increasing flight options, Volaris makes Sonora a more attractive destination for national and international tourists from Monterrey, who from now on will be able to land and take off directly at the Ciudad Obregón International Airport, which allows for an increase in the number of visitors and, in this way, generates a greater demand for tourist services, such as accommodation, transportation, and recreational activities.
Likewise, improving air connectivity with Ciudad Obregón increases the economic competitiveness of southern Sonora, becoming a factor in attracting national and international companies that wish to invest in the region.
Only 10 months after taking over the administration and operation of the Ciudad Obregón airport, this Airport Group, part of the SEMAR, has focused its efforts on modernizing the airport infrastructure and improving the services offered at the air terminals under its charge. Today, it is pleased to present immediate, visible, and effective results with the incorporation of more destinations and routes that promote the growth of tourism and business for the benefit of the inhabitants of Cajeme and the users of the air terminal.
