President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced her visit to Querétaro next Sunday, October 13, to kick off the Mexico-Querétaro train project.

From the National Palace, during her morning press conference, the Head of the Federal Executive announced that she will come to the state to start work on one of the passenger train projects that she promised to promote during her administration.

“On Sunday we are going to Querétaro, we are going to kick off the studies for the Mexico-Querétaro train,” she declared during the People’s Morning Press Conference.

In this regard, Governor Mauricio Kuri confirmed that he has already established communication with the president’s team, although they have not yet given details about the logistics of the event; however, he said that the state will support in everything necessary.

Although last week the governor said that the Federation did not consider the installation of a station for this train in San Juan del Río, he does not take his finger off the line and trusts that once the head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, sees the technical advantages of the station in this municipality, he could change his mind.

This would be the second state that President Sheinbaum visited to begin work on the passenger trains; the first was Hidalgo, where last weekend she began work on the Mexico-Pachuca train, which will connect this entity with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

According to information released by the federal president, two passenger train projects would affect the state: the Mexico-Querétaro-Guadalajara and the Mexico-San Luis Potosí-Nuevo Laredo train, which would also pass through Querétaro territory.

According to the project proposed by the Federation, the Mexico-Querétaro-Guadalajara train is 582 kilometers long and would take 4.7 years to build, with an estimated completion date of May 17, 2029, and an investment of 55 billion pesos, just for one section.
