The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued an alert for the possible formation of a cyclone named “Carlotta”, monitoring three areas in the Pacific Ocean with the potential to develop cyclonic activity. These areas could impact various regions of the country in the coming days.
Areas with potential for cyclonic development:
The low-pressure zone south of Guerrero and Michoacán, associated with tropical wave number 14, increases its probability of cyclonic development to 50% in 48 hours and 7 days.
It is located approximately 520 km south-southwest of Acapulco, Gro. It is moving west-northwest at a speed between 16 and 24 km/h.
Low-pressure zone southwest of the Baja California peninsula.
It maintains a 10% probability of cyclonic development in 48 hours and 30% in 7 days.
It is located approximately 1,850 km southwest of Cabo San Lucas, BCS. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 16 km/h.
A low-pressure zone is expected to form south of Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Guerrero. There is a 70% chance of cyclonic development in 7 days.
States that “Carlotta” will affect
If Cyclone Carlotta forms, it could mainly affect the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, and Oaxaca, due to the proximity and movement of the low-pressure zones mentioned.
The area south of Guerrero and Michoacán, associated with tropical wave number 14, has a high potential to develop in the next 48 hours, which could lead to the formation of “Carlotta”.
