One of the most beautiful ships in the world will dock in Puerto Vallarta

The Amerigo Vespucci, named after the famous explorer Amerigo Vespucci, is currently on the second leg of its world voyage that began in June 2023.

This June, the iconic port of Puerto Vallarta will witness the arrival of the Amerigo Vespucci, considered one of the most beautiful ships in the world and a jewel of the Italian Navy. Built in 1931, this impressive training ship serves as a naval training center and is the protagonist of a global journey that will take it across three oceans and dock in 28 countries for 20 months.

The ship’s design, the work of Francesco Rotundi in 1930, stands out for its impressive structure and capacity. With a length of 101 meters and a width of 15.5 meters, the Amerigo Vespucci can accommodate about 400 sailors and displaces 4 thousand tons, propelled by 26 sails distributed on three masts, the largest of which is 50 meters high. Despite its classic construction, the ship is equipped with diesel engines to ensure its maneuverability.

The ship’s visit to Puerto Vallarta is a naval event and a celebration of culture and learning. On June 18, local authorities and representatives of the Mexican Navy will coordinate a series of formal events that promise to be a memorable encounter. In addition, on June 20, the ship will open its doors to the local community, offering a special day for students and a scientific conference led by experts from the University of Guadalajara.

The general public will have the opportunity to explore the Amerigo Vespucci on June 21 and 22, on guided tours that will allow visitors to discover the majesty and history of this ship up close.
