Journalist Roberto Figueroa is kidnapped and murdered in Morelos; his family paid ransom.
The communicator was deprived of his freedom after taking his daughters to school; hours later he was found dead on a dirt road in Coajomulco, municipality of Huitzilac, Morelos.
Roberto Figueroa, journalist and content creator on digital portals, was found dead inside a car in the town of Coajomulco in Huitzilac, Morelos; the Meican state where he resided. The incident occurred hours after he was kidnapped.
According to local media, the communicator was last seen around 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, after he took his daughters to school. On his way back to his home, armed men intercepted him.
Around 8:30 a.m., Figueroa’s wife received a phone call demanding an amount of money to release him. In this first contact, the journalist was put on the phone so that the family could realize that he was alive.
A second and third call was made by the captors hours later. In the first one they insisted on collecting as much money as possible, while in the third they gave instructions to take the payment to a specific place. In that same intervention, they assured that once the aforementioned steps were completed they would leave the journalist in Coajomulco, Huitzilac, a municipality bordering Mexico City.
However, although the instructions were followed to the letter, around 6:20 p.m., agents of the National Guard (GN), the Mexican Army and the state police located Figueroa’s lifeless body inside a Ford Ikon compact car, on a dirt road in Coajomulco.
It turned out that the victim was handcuffed and had a gunshot wound to the head.
