The waves that prevailed that day caused them to take them out to sea; lifeguards warn swimmers of ditches and rip currents.

A few hours after the town’s beaches were reopened after the effects of the hurricane “Norma”, the elements of the Aquatic Police rescued three people, two of them tourists, due to the waves that prevailed during the day.

According to an official statement from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, it was reported that the first activation of the emergency protocols occurred in the Cerritos area, in front of a well-known hotel, where an employee of the place was the one who required support to leave the sea, even when he was on dry land, he was helped by lifeguards from the Municipal Police.

The rescued young man identified himself as Kevin, 20, who remained at the scene.

Hours later, the second intervention was recorded in the Beaches area of the Oceano Palace Hotel, where two men from Jalisco were given buoyancy when they were pulled by a rip current.

Being on dry land, they said they were tired and nervous, so it was not necessary to take them to a hospital.

For his part, Gustavo Espinoza Bastidas, coordinator of the Aquatic Police, highlighted that the call for prevention prevails, as do the tours during the day and night, since the primary objective is to prevent people from being involved in incidents.

He said that after the effects of “Norma”, yellow flags remained in the beach area, so that bathers were careful of the ditches caused by the strong waves and rip currents that could pull bathers out to sea.

That is why they will be making constant tours with staff informing bathers of the risk that occurs on the different beaches in the city.
