TAR Aerolíneas adds three destinations from Durango

Transportes Aéreos Regionales (TAR Aerolíneas) will carry out a significant increase in its operations in Durango (DGO), with the incorporation of three new destinations that will strengthen connectivity in the northwest of Mexico. The Mexican airline bases this decision on an exhaustive regional market analysis.

Starting in October, the company will establish new connections from Durango to Hermosillo (HMO), Monterrey (MTY) and Puerto Vallarta, thus complementing its current routes to Ciudad Juárez (CJS) and Guadalajara (GDL).

This extensive deployment of new routes is expected to contribute to the economic and tourism development of the region. On the one hand, Hermosillo and Monterrey are destinations with a high flow of business travelers, while Puerto Vallarta is known for its attractive recreational tourism.

With this announcement, Durango will increase its seat capacity from 600 to 1,300 with the five operating routes, which represents an increase of 53%. TAR Aerolíneas maintains that the capital of the state of Durango seeks to position itself as a prominent meeting point for conventions and business meetings.

The regional airline, based in Querétaro, is going through a reorganization process after receiving a capital injection of $20 million from Ethos Asset Management (Ethos) for 18 months last July.

The closure of Aeromar, which took place on February 15, particularly affected regional connectivity: although during that month it represented only 0.8% of the total seats on domestic flights in Mexico, the suspension of its activity was felt more strongly in communities that did not have other regular air services.

TAR destination network reaches 20 Mexican destinations.

In March of this year, Ricardo Bastón, CEO of TAR, had said that they are seeking to increase market capacity. To this end, they plan to incorporate up to eight new Embraer 145s, which would be gradually incorporated in 2024. Currently, the company operates a fleet made up entirely of this model from the Brazilian manufacturer, with a total of six.
